Full Review

The Fahrenheit Heat Wave flat iron comes in a number of jazzy colors to choose from, and is billed as Fahrenheit’s ‘high-end’ straightener line. This is because of the ionic and far-infrared technology built into the 100% ceramic plates, and that it’s optimized for multi-styling.

Materials

The Heat Wave model comes with 100% ceramic plates – not just cheap ceramic coating like other brands routinely use – ensuring smooth heat distribution. They heat up evenly and quickly, meaning you spend less time going over the same strands of hair, and therefore subjecting your locks to less heat damage. Flat irons with ceramic coating are also likely to lose the coating over time; but full ceramic plates will stay intact for years.

Ceramic plates are also best for those with fine hair, as they don’t produce as high temperatures or harsh heat as titanium plates. It’s gentler on your hair, but may not be enough for those with thick, coarse or extremely curly locks.

Pure ceramic plates mean that this flat iron model is a tad more on the expensive end of the budget for straighteners; but the cost for protecting your hair from heat damage is worth it. You wouldn’t want to end up with brittle, broken, dry and frizzy hair – therefore investing in good-quality plates is definitely worth your money.

Multi-Styling

Fahrenheit’s Heat Wave features beveled plates, which means the edges are rounded and smooth rather than a harsh, straight edge. This means it won’t leave ‘edge’ marks on your hair, making for a smoother style. This works just as well for both straightening and making waves with your iron.

The rubber outer coating on this styler could cause a problem for curling, though. If you attempt to wrap your hair around the iron to curl it, the rubber will grip it, and end up possibly pulling it out. This model should only be chosen if you intend to straighten, wave, or crimp hair.

The 1.25-inch plates and barrel are the perfect width to create stunning, Hollywood-style waves with your Heat Wave flat iron. Find a simple tutorial easily on YouTube, and give it a go for your next night out!

Ionic & Far-Infrared Technology

The quality of this straightener is also reflected in its built-in technology – and this model has all the tech found in much more expensive straighteners.

Ionic technology within the plates ensures your hair stays frizz-free in a super clever way. It neutralizes the hair’s natural charge by replacing negative ions lost by hair-styling, therefore leaving it silky smooth and static-free – cool, huh?

There’s also infrared technology in there, which heats hair from the inside out. This might sound scary, but it helps to defend your hair strands’ delicate outer layers that are the most susceptible to heat damage. Sort of like a microwave, but good for your hair!

Our Verdict

This straightener is a perfect styling tool that is kind on hair and features technology out of its price bracket. While it may not be best for creating curls or for those with unruly hair, it works amazingly for the majority of people and straightens like a dream. We recommend!
